"We drilled 13,400 feet with a 5 5/8” Varel roller cone button bit that was cryogenically processed. The normal life of this bit would have been 6000 to 8000 feet of grout holes. The cryo process extended the life of the bearings and the carbide buttons and reduced washing of the rollers. We drilled over 20,000 feet with a 5 7/8” Varel roller cone button bit that was cryogenically processed. The cryo process has reduced wear on this bit in the same way as it did on the 5 5/8” bit. The normal life of this bit would have been about 8000 feet of grout holes. We drilled over 16,000 feet with a 6” Varel roller cone button bit that was cryogenically processed. The cryo process reduced wear on this bit in the same way as it did on the 5 5/8” bit. The normal life of this bit would have been 1000 to 1200 feet of water wells".
"We have been using your process for the last year and have found the following results:
Mill Saw Blades: 2-3 times the life (each blade is worth $260.00). We purchase approximately 100 blades per year. Easier to sharpen. Cuts through the heavier gauge material with less stress. All this equates to less down time.
Spot Welder Tips (electrodes): 5 times the life (each tip is worth $2.50). We purchase approximately 3000 tips per year. Less cleaning of the tip. Wears more uniform. All this equates to less down time and more productivity.
Canada Culvert has been extremely happy with the results and will continue using this process. We will continue to look at other items we purchase to have them cryogenically processed as well."
"Good news! After 3234 hours of production with line 1 we have checked diameter of the tipper. The most critical part is the end of transparent zone. In general, we start making reject after 2900 hours and we measure a reduction in diameter of 5.9e-2 inch, at least enough reduction to exchange tipper part.
Now, without making any reject we manage to run for 3234 hours, that's an increase of 11% of lifetime! And the diameter reduction is only 4.7e-2 inch. Anyway, we place the tipper back, and will run for another 1000 hours.

"John Deer tests have been greateful. Band saw blades have performed 20% increase, a countersinking bit performed a 40% increase, apparently some carbide inserts performed a 50% increase and more tools are being tested right now."
"Before treatment, we had to change out chipper knives at lunch time or we could not make a full shift when processing day logs. Now, using treated knives, we run a full 10 hours on one set of knives, barring foreign objects such as rocks, pike poles, etc. Our knives come back in better shape with consequently less grinding time. Our grinding time is less; less knife steel used, and less overtime for people doing the knives changes. Our resultant savings per year just on that is approximately $10,000."
